Letter 19181209
Camp Pike, Arkansas
December-9th-1918
Dear Father & Mother:-
Will write you a few lines to let you know that all is well
in old Camp Pike, and hope all is the same in old Iowa.
It has been raining this morning but at present it is just misting, would
much rather it would rain right down then to have it just mist along for
the rest of the day..
Saw a foot-ball game yesterday between Camp Dodge & Camp Pike, sure was some
ball game, score 7-14. in favor of Camp Pike, all scores were made in the first
half of the game.
I suppose you are looking for me every day in the week, are you not! well
it won't be long till we will all be home, and what I mean they cannot send me
home any to soon to suit me, as I am getting tired of this army life,
we are getting ready to leave at any time now, I think they will send us back
to Camp Dodge and from there they will send us home, of course I expect to
stop off in Des Moines for a few days but will be home in good time to go to
work, when I am needed most, you how it is, do you not?
well mother if you folks would write a letter to the commanding Officer of
Cam Pike, stating the facts, I could get amedite discharge but I would rather
stick it out till the rest of the boys get ready to leave, but you can do as
you see fit,
well as I have a little work that I must do I will quite for tis time.
With Love
your son
