My Dear Niece

I Recieved your kind and Ever welcome letter 2 days ago I left for Portland to see my Step Daughter on the 24 of July and stayed 3 Days while I was there your aunt Lillies Daughter & family came to visit me they will tell you all about your mean old uncle Thead and how he lives we had a nice visit but too short by a month or so. I had not seen her since she was 2 years Old so I sure was happily surprised to see some one who cared for me then my little step Daughter from lower Californey came to visit me had been 12 years since I seen her married her mother when she was 6 years old she always loved he Old sep dad alway wrote to me always caled me father or Papa my niece beged me to go to Iowa with them & my Daughter to Calf with them but I am still here and will be a while yet as I am sure not improved very fast Dear and dont ever expect to be well again but I am not a Pauper so I dont have to spong off of no one

Well Dear your Pictures are very nice and Glad to have them well Dear I could not get you a Silver case watch but I got the next best silver is to soft but it will last you your life time it is in the store Running so it will be all ready for you to set by Eastern time tell me what day your scool starts Dear so I will get there on time tell your Father I write him soon hope you are all well and to hear from you soon
