My Dearest Niece Rec your ever Kind & welcome letter Friday Eve to late to answer it had to go to Portland yesterday so will Rite to day glad to hear from all again. I am so shakey I can hardly Rite have ben trying to work a little in my garden its so dry & hot had to quit it is 92 Deg in the shade my garden is up fine corn 4 inches high lots of Peas in Bloom but awful Dry well Dear there is not much sickness here at Present but was lots a fiew moths Back I Expect I knowed Mr. Jamison you speok of used to know Lou lon & Frank Jamison years ago wish I was back there with Old Betsy to skin them Old time fiddlers would get a job I skined Every Old california Oregon & Washington Player with Bow fingering & time 2 years ago at Portland music house and a year ago at St. Johns Old masonic Ball Given by the Masons of Oregon you could hear all over the house who is he never heard such music I told my cousin I would Play for them if he would not introduce me to any one in the hall so he stuck to his word he said more than fifty good Masons asked him who I was but they all got the same answer Search me, so they dident get my name in the Grand Ball account in the morning Paper only the fine old violin Player who seemed to be a stranger to Every body in St. Johns Pretty good joke on St John Paper I never liked my nam in a Paper so I alway lay lowe to keep it out
