Dear Niece

Rec your kinde and moste Ever welcome letter yesterday glad ato hear from you again and to hear you are all well at least not in bed sad think that is luck chas. Tanseys Death is no surprise to me if you Rember I said Dear the opperation would do him up I have seen five or six here and Every man and one woman Died. They never saved on so I had no idea he would get well. Well Dear I wish a good many times since I've been back here nearly choking to Death that I was out of this hole in the Grave. Then one would be at Rest and out of this misery it is a curse to any one to lay as I have ben the last 8 days & nights. I have set up every night since last friday a week ago. don't get over 1 hours sleep at no time dont Eat nothing hardly but a little mush & milk.

We have had Rain Snow & hale Every day last week is Raining Now just Pooring down hard an awful hail storm in Portland yesterday it has ben freezing nearly every other night since I got back the family I staid 6 days with out at Glencullen Right in the South Corporation limet of Portland tried to set some Gale Posts he choped through 10 inches of sollid hard frozen ground had to quit work how is that for Oregon. In the 48 years I never see many thing half as bad it has rained most every thing came on about the same time it did there it ruined thousands of dollars of hot house flowers & plants. Broke some of the men up.

Well Dear it is not Oregon alone look way in the East as well as Washington & Northern Claifornia. Millions of dollars lost now the come and finish up the rest with starving & Death there must be some Poser working again this money Power I dont know what.

Dear you remember the dirty cur of a attorney I and ever sole sole in the court house said sold me out he took sick one day while I was out at Glencullen and Died and was buried before I got back he didnt know I was back in Oregon I wanted to see him but saves me some hard talk but I would have told him what some good people though of him before he Died. I woder Dear if the Money he helped Rob me out of will do him any good the dirty thief can keep it. Dear dont think to hard of your old Joe the way I talk about him he knew I could not work any more.

Well Dear I will tell you how I came to be here. I was staying in an old cold lodging house on the third floor with to long stairs to clime got so weak had to get or send out for every thing I got Paid 3 dollars a week 25cts a week for Gas to coock what little I had to coock 10cts a day for wood staid 4 1/2 weeks so I had to get out or go broke as I could do no work so I went Down to see my old friend Judge langgeth and found Mr. Collis an old Scoch friend of mine there told him the plain truth how I was fixed told him just how I was fixed so he told me to come back next day so I did then he sent me over to have a talk with good old Scoch wife she wanted to know how much I wanted a day to stay up here on the farm with 2 Geese and 2 rabbits and look after the Place. I told her my bed and grub was all I could posibly expect to get till I got better. So here I am they come up every Saturday stay till Monday morning they live in Portland I get lots of grub & plenty of wood but thats Better than lots have well hope you are all well and the weather is better.
