Letter 18910205
Leroy, Iowa Feb. the 5, 1891
Mr. E. E. Delk
Dear Brother, we received your letter some time ago. Was very glad to hear from you. Bart sat down the same evening & wrote you. I was feeling to bad to write then. So his letter ( Lina is bothering me till I hardly know what I am doing) has laid around till it got lost. We are all well now but have all had a turn at complaining. I hope this will find you feeling better.
We are very busy just now getting ready to move. We have traded for property & two fine horses in Leroy. Traded everything but one cow, one hog & the harness & wagon. Our property is very nice, a good barn & a very good nicely furnished house of four rooms, a smoke house, chicken house & pig pen. Our lot is large so we have a nice garden. Bart is going to the grove today. It is a beautiful morning. The boys are gone to. Baby is lying on the lounge not dressed cooing to be taken up. Roy & Lina is playing & making all the noise possible. We are going up to Joe’s in a few days if it stays nice. Maybe tomorrow.
Them & Ambroses have been down since you were here. I have not been away from home since the 10th of Dec. -- isn’t that doing pretty well. Our lawsuit came off the 6 Jan.--cost us over a hundred dollars all told. They sued for over three hundred, got a judgment of twenty dollars & we pay half the cost. Theirs (?) & everything we have put on the place such as corn crib and sofas.
Give our love to all. Write soon
Tell aunt I would like to visit her this afternoon but guess I can’t.
Your Sister & Brother
Lillie & Bart
