I have redone the Document List and Photo List. Was having problems with the original not linking directly to the files, so went through and created a new one. Also, I hopefully have fixed all of the bad links. No guarantee on this, but a majority of the broken links should be fixed. I am also now working on getting my Mothers side on this site as well. Will take a while, but should have it done by this time next year. In the meantime, I will be adding bits and pieces as I get the information. As always, feel free to drop me line at delkbrian@earthlink.net.

I have added some documents for Franklin Delk, Elmer’s son first child. In doing so, it solved a mystery for me. I had some photos with people id as the Isom’s, no idea who they were or how they were related to the Delk family. Turns out that Isom is the maiden name of Elizabeth Delk, Frank’s last wife. Her obituary is a part of the documents that have been scanned and uploaded, take a look. Hopefully will be adding more in the next few months.

Just added five letters of recommendation that Mary May received to teach at some small rural schools in Clarke and Decatur counties. Will be adding several more of these documents later this year.
If you have any thing that you would like included on this site, drop me a line at: photos@familyhistoria.com.

Growing up I would get the following question, “Are you any relation to Warren?” My future wife even knew him. When she was a Rainbow Girl and he a Mason, she would talk to him about me. He, like all of the other Delk’s, was a storyteller. Ruth, his wife, would roll her eyes when he started recounting the time when he did this or that. There are plenty of people who could share some stories about Warren, and I wish they would. I am sure Ruth would be rolling her eyes listening to them. There are some updated documents about Warren on his landing page. Will be adding more stuff, and hopefully some stories later.

We know Martha (Maitlen) Delk wrote poems, and yes, I have more to display, but did you know one of her poems was put to music? Check it out on her page, under Documents. The song or poem, is titled “My Little Rosebud.” It may not have been a Top 100 chart topper, but it was good enough to be published and that is all that counts. I will be posting more documents and photos in the coming week, until then, stay warm and keep in touch.

Franklin was stationed in Germany during World War One, and apparently had started a relationship with Gretel Neimann. We have had two postcards translated from old German style handwriting and I have posted them along with some photos of Gretel on Franklin’s webpage. One of the postcards disproves the belief that they were married, but in her mind they were. She is truly heart broken. Will post more if we find anything.

The thing about family history is this; while researching the past, the present keeps adding to it. Good or bad, family history has to be experienced, which is why I have been so slow to add new material. But there is now more documents and photos up, most of them having to do with Charles Wesley Delk and his immediate family. Keep checking on the photo and document logs, I may sneak stuff in without announcing it.
Until next time, Brian.

I was able to get through the documents a lot quicker than I thought, mainly because I had been a little more organized with them. The list for them is located here. I am working on a timeline for the site. It will display the birthdays and deaths of everyone through Charlie Delk. Should be interesting to look at once everybody is in place. It will show a broad picture of the goings on in the family.
Until then, enjoy.
