Poems Page 01
By Martha L. Delk
Sweet Valentine with wiles and snare,
You set my heart a flutter.
If you will be my little bride,
I’ll buy your bread and butter.
Sweetheart, love, this is the day,
When we should give our hearts away.
Herewith I’m giving mine to thee,
And hope you’re giving yours to me.
Little Sweetheart I can see,
What a sweetheart ought to be.
When I smooth your golden hair,
When I kiss your check so fair,
Then I know there’ll never be,
Any other love for me.
I’m sending you a message
In a Valentine today.
I haven’t got the nerve to say it
In any other way.
If you will have me Honey,
Why please do say it then.
I’ll be your own Cock Robin,
You’ll be my Jenny Wren.
Here is just a little honey,
It doesn’t cost a cent of money.
Dearie, I just love you best,
I never think about the rest.
I have a little memory book,
With names of just a few,
Who say kind things and cheer me on,
And one of them is you.
